We bought some groceries at the Real Canadian Superstore, and on the back of the receipt I noticed these coupons so I thought I’d take in a couple of winter coats to have cleaned.
My honey dropped off two coats for me and they told him they’d be ready in about a week.
On the day we were supposed to pick up the coats, I got a voicemail from thedrycleaner.com. When I called back, the woman told me that the coats were “fun fur” and that they would cost $29.97 to clean.
I went through a barrage of expressions on the phone, some being, “are you nuts!?!”, “the coats are not ‘fun fur’, they’re cotton pile”, “I don’t care what your plant said”, “your coupon says all coats except for down, leather and fur”, “this is false advertising!”.
The woman told me I’d have to talk to the manager who wouldn’t be back in until Friday. So I’m supposed to wait another four days to hear more of the same. Then she told me that she’d talk to the plant about it and call me back the next day. She didn’t. It’s been two days and still no phone call.
I can’t believe the gall of these people to offer me some coupon for buying at their stores and then try to rip me off for 5 times the amount advertised. Fun fur; unbelievable. Pile coats is what they are and nowhere on that coupon does it say that pile coats are excluded – they certainly had the opportunity to put that on.
And why the hell would I be paying close to $30 to clean a coat when my usual dry cleaners does it for $16?
I’m awaiting a response from the manager, if that ever happens. I still can’t get over this.
