Outlaw Smoking

Not being a big news freak, I missed this story that my friend told me about today.
Apparently, in Ontario, they are now going to outlaw smoking in public places. And that doesn’t mean in restaurants and buildings like they’ve already done; they’re talking about banning people from smoking outside and on patios.
Whose initiative is that? And who the fuck are they catering to… the bleeding heart non-smoker activists? And why the hell would smoking outside bother anybody. Can the smoke actually get to the non-smokers with all the rest of the air around outside?
What will be banned next – cars? buses? Oh, no. There are no activists for that, but just let a non-smoker see someone smoking near them and all of a sudden there’s a little cough, a little waving of the hand and arm so they can show the smoker just how offensive the smoke is – the smoke apparently doesn’t drift away into the miles of sky and oxygen, it goes right into a non-smoker’s lungs.
I can’t believe the bullshit that people pull, most especially the government. If second-hand smoke is so harmful, why haven’t they made cigarettes illegal? What’s with the catering to the special interest groups on the one hand, while taxing the crap out of the smokers on the other hand.
Oh no, they wouldn’t be making all that money off smokes if it wasn’t legal, so, of course, cigarettes are probably here to stay. They’ll just make situations ridiculous for smokers so they’ll look to be appeasing the most vocal groups.
I hate this stinking hypocritcal government, and quite frankly I hate the sanctimonious asshole non smokers too.
