Working Temp

For the past 3 weeks, I’ve been working in a temp job at Allstate. It’s been great as far as the people go. They’ve been very nice, accommodating and friendly, introducing me to others and having me join them for breaks and lunches.
I’ve really liked the work environment and the company conduct policies they seem to adhere to. Too bad they’re not looking for somebody with my skillset on a full-time basis.
The problem I’m having there, however, is that the place is making me cough. All the time. And making my nose all runny so that I’m blowing my nose about 20 times a day. At first I thought I hadn’t quite gotten over the cold I had 4 weeks ago, and explained that to them. However, it seems to be getting worse.
I don’t know if it’s an allergy thing going on, but if it is, I have no idea to what. I have all those airborne allergies, and dust and mold, yada yada yada, but I don’t see where that fits in to this brand new office… newly decorated, new furniture, etc.
Yesterday they sent me home at 2:30 and told me not to come in today, instead to go see a doctor. ???
So I went to the doctor this morning and I also requested a chest x-ray which I went to right afterwards.
The doctor seemed to think it was an asthma-related problem, related to my allergies and gave me a prescription for some new puffers… $119 later. I’ve used those tonight but I don’t know if they’re working since I don’t have this coughing problem at home.
I guess we’ll see how I’m doing once I’m back at the job.
