Kablooey for the job interview

On Thursday I had another job interview, this time at the Sunnybrook-Osler Centre for Prehospital Care. I met with Bryan Pett for approximately half an hour to 45 minutes and let me tell you what a useless interview that one was.
First off, I should mention that I did not get the job, even though there were two jobs there that I could have run circles around, he hired me for neither. And not only didn’t he hire me, but he wasn’t at all interested in seeing me for a second interview. It would be interesting to find out what his thinking was, but of course I got no feedback from him via the agency or directly.
I should point out that he sat in front of a window with open blinds. I don’t know if that was a psychological move on his part to have stripes of light beaming in on my face, or whether this guy just didn’t know any better.
He told me that theirs was a line organization, where even the head guy knew the names of all the staff, and that they directly interacted with one another. I have to wonder why he’d tell me this as if speaking with all levels of staff down is an accomplishment. It sounds to me like a line-up organization.
I had to sit, sucking Halls Centres during the interview since I was just getting over a cold and didn’t want to cough all through it. I don’t know if that bothered Mr. Pett. I don’t really know what he thought.
But there was a point in the interview where he asked me to name 3 of my areas of needed improvement. I was a little shocked at that. I don’t have three areas in need of improvement; at least not as far as work goes. I was desperately trying to come up with one area of improvement but, quite frankly, since I’ve got so much experience behind me, and so much continual learning, I’m bringing quite a lot of knowledge to the table in the areas in which I work. Name it, I’ve probably done it (and learned how to do it well).
I don’t think it sat well with this guy that I couldn’t come up with something. But I do think that perhaps he should look to another source for his interview questions.
