Avant Browser

// July 21st, 2005 // No Comments » // Just Stuff

I know a lot of people these days use Firefox as their browser, and I use it too, as a secondary browser.

My all time favourite is Avant Browser and that’s mostly because, like Firefox, you can open all your links in a new tab. But, in Avant, you can have those tabs open again the next time you open your browser.

This is good for old folks like me who want to remember to visit a site later but don’t have time for right now. Or if you want to follow a message thread in a forum, you’ll still have that tab open to keep checking back.

It has another great function where you can set up shortcuts. For example, in my address bar, I can type “yh” and it will take me to my yahoo mail, or “tb” will take me to this site.

The problem now is that I just upgraded to a new version of Avant, and all of a sudden my copy and paste functions don’t work.

When I uninstall the browser, everything goes back to normal. I even tried reinstalling a previous version and the same thing happens now.

I don’t know what I’m going to do if I’m forced to use Firefox as my browser. I’ll have to remember all the sites I want to go to.

My current mood: depressed in Toronto.

Toronto Jazz Festival

// July 13th, 2005 // No Comments » // Just Stuff, Neighbourhoods

Last year or the year before (I’m too old to remember which) I went to the Toronto Jazz Festival. You can pretty much just run around the neighbourhood (whilst stopping at the many bars for a cold one) and listen to all the musicians playing in the street.

And they’re not even all jazz musicians, it’s a mix of all different kinds of music.

It runs this weekend, starting Friday, so for those of you who’ve been having a tough time with this heat wave, go have a tough time in the Beaches, stop for some cold ones, and enjoy the music. If you’re lucky it’ll rain and you know we’re really needing that.

Water SlideIn very many ways, I wish this was me.

In many ways I’m glad it’s not, but she does have the luxury of sliding in a water slide and I don’t.

I wonder if I could buy one of those little blow-up pools and put it in my living room?
